Individual Psychotherapy
I work with adults on a number of presenting concerns including adjustment and mood disorders (e.g. depression and anxiety), relationship problems, and academic underachievement, to more difficult issues like personality disorders, thought disorders and dementia. I generally utilize both cognitive-behavioral (including behavioral modification) and interpersonal approaches in therapy sessions.
Psychological Assessment and Consultation
I provide timely and affordable psychological evaluations for adolescents and adults to determine personality and emotional functioning, IQ, ADHD, mental stability, etc. At the end of the assessment, I am able to pinpoint specific diagnoses and offer recommendations. Professional Experience
I completed a one year internship at Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Correctional Center located in Bonne Terre, Missouri working with adult males in a maximum security prison setting. I then completed a one year post-doctoral residency at the Center for Behavioral Medicine located in Kansas City, Missouri on the Incompetent to Stand Trial unit.
In addition to my private practice, I provide brief individual therapy to residents at various nursing homes in Northeastern Kansas for GeroPsych, a division of Key Rehabilitation Inc. I am also a psychological consultant for Social Security Administration’s Disability Determination Services.
I have also worked in community mental health centers, multicultural centers, low-income clinics and as an adjunct professor at a local community college.

How do I schedule an appointment?
Call Stonestreet & Associates at (785) 273-7292 between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Thursday, or between 8 am to noon on Fridays and the receptionist will assist you in scheduling an appointment. You can also email me with general questions (please be aware that both the security and prompt delivery of email cannot be guaranteed, therefore, do not include sensitive clinical information in emails, and never use it in an emergency).
At what times during the day do you offer appointments?
I offer daytime, evening, and occasional weekend appointments. However, the immediate availability of openings varies. Please call and the receptionist can help us find a good mutual time to meet.
What types of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, and most major credit cards. If you have specific concerns regarding payment, please call and the office manager can help you.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a participating provider of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, and Century Health. Please call the member services number on your insurance card to determine your exact benefits. I will obtain your membership information during our first meeting in order to verify and process your insurance benefits. If you do not have these insurance carriers, you should know that many health insurance plans will reimburse the insured individual for some portion of the out-of-network outpatient therapy fee and/or assessment. To determine the extent of your coverage, please call your insurer directly.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a standard 24-hour cancellation policy. I ask that you give me at least 24-hours notice if you will be unable to make a scheduled session, otherwise you will be charged for the full session fee. In the event of severe weather or emergencies, you will not be charged. Please note that insurance generally does not reimburse for missed sessions.
